LSU baseball associate head coach David Grewe and assistant coach Javi Sanchez are not in contention to become the head baseball coach at Notre Dame, according to LSU coach Paul Mainieri.

“Neither of them are in consideration,” Mainieri said.

Grewe was an assistant coach under Mainieri at Notre Dame from 2003-05. He also served as head coach of Michigan State from 2006-08 before joining LSU’s coaching staff for the 2009 season.

Sanchez was a shortstop and catcher for the Irish from 2001-04. He came to LSU as a volunteer coach in 2008 and was promoted to assistant coach before the 2009 season.

“I’m happy for them to remain with us and our staff,” Mainieri said.
