CFPA eyes big things for Mention

Georgia Southern University rising senior defensive end Javon Mention was selected for the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) watch list for defensive linemen.

Mention started three games for the Eagles in 2012. He finished the season tied the team lead in quarterback sacks with 6.5 and also had 10.5 tackles for loss.

“Congratulations to Javon Mention on earning a spot on the 2013 CFPA Watch List,” CFPA Executive Director Brad Smith said in a news release. “Georgia Southern has an outstanding tradition with defensive talent. Mention will be one of the top defenders in the nation to watch during the 2013 season.”

Mention joins junior running back Dominique Swope and senior quarterback Jerick McKinnon on 2013 CFPA watch lists.

The complete list of CFPA award winners will be announced on Jan. 8, 2014.
