5 SLO concerts you won’t want to miss this summer

If you’re in need of some entertainment this summer, check out these five concerts in the San Luis Obispo area.

Lady Antebellum
July 22, 7:30 p.m. at the Paso Robles Event Center

The Nashville country music group is making a stop at the California Mid-State Fair as part of its Take Me Downtown tour. Since its start in 2006, the group has won “Vocal Group of the Year” three times in a row from the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music. Lady Antebellum has had 11 Grammy nominations with eight wins, including “Best Country Album.”

Tickets range from $40-115 and can be bought at the California Mid-State Fair website.

Demi Lovato
July 20, 7:30 p.m. at the Paso Robles Event Center

Multi-platinum pop artist Demi Lovato will be performing at the California Mid-State Fair as part of her Neon Lights tour — named after her most recent single — and the annual Bud Light Concert Series. Lovato debuted her latest album, DEMI, in May 2013. It features hit singles “Heart Attack” and “Born In the USA.” Lovato is also a previous “X-Factor” panelist. Pop music duo MKTO has been confirmed as her opening act.

Tickets range from $26-71 and can be bought at the California Mid-State Fair website.

Grouplove and Portugal. The Man
Aug. 13, 5 p.m. at Avila Beach Golf Resort

Grouplove and Portugal. The Man will be performing at Avila Beach Resort as headliners of this year’s Honda Civic Tour. Los Angeles-based indie band Grouplove has toured with Two Door Cinema Club, alt-J and Foster the People, but this is its first time touring with Portugal. The Man. Grouplove is best known for its singles “Tongue Tied,” “Ways To Go” and “Colours.” The band recently contributed the song “Let Me In” to the soundtrack for “The Fault in Our Stars.”

Last June, Portugal. The Man released its most recent album, Evil Friends. The band has performed at Bonnaroo, Coachella and Lollapalooza. Indie Rock Band Tokyo Police Club will be a supporting act.

Weezer
Sept. 12, 8 p.m. at Vina Robles Ampitheatre

The Los Angeles rock band is making a tour stop at the Vina Robles Amphitheatre in Paso Robles. The band, which was formed in 1992, is best known “Island in the Sun,” “Beverly Hills,” “Buddy Holly,” “Pork and Beans” and “Say It Isn’t So.” So far, Weezer has released eight albums and sold 10 million records. The band’s latest album, Hurley, was released in 2010 and debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200. Along with touring, Weezer is working on its next album.

Tickets range from $43-70 and can be bought at Ticketmaster.

The Band Perry
Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. at the Vina Robles Ampitheatre

The sibling country music group will bring its music to the Vina Robles Amphitheatre in Paso Robles. In 2010, The Band Perry released its self-titled album, scoring the band hits such as “If I Die Young,” “You Lie” and “All Your Life.” The band’s last album, Pioneer, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart. In March, The Band Perry finished its first global headline tour, We Are Pioneers.

Tickets range from $45-80 and can be bought at Ticketmaster.
