A male resident of University Village in Albany was punched several times and threatened during a home invasion robbery Saturday, police said.

Just before 3 a.m., a man illegally entered a residence at 735 Gooding Way and confronted the 33-year-old resident, according to a UCPD crime alert released Saturday. The man allegedly made verbal threats toward resident and stole several items from his home. Authorities said the man fled the residence in an unknown direction.

Although the resident was punched several times, he refused medical treatment. Officers of Albany Police Department and UCPD searched the area but did not locate the suspect.

UC Berkeley owns University Village, which provides family housing to students.

According to the crime alert, the suspect is described as a black male in his late 30s or early 40s, approximately 6-foot-1 in height and with a deep voice.
