Gameday: How To Spend Your Perfect Saturday

It’s officially conference season.

Everywhere across the nation, teams are beginning (or continuing) their conference play and lucky for all the fans of college football, it makes the game a little more exciting with a little bit more on the line.

Highlighting this week’s slate of games is the SEC with two conference showdowns that could provide plenty of drama. Also, a non-conference game between Big-12 and SEC teams and an ACC matchup featuring Florida State and Clemson will be on display.

THURSDAY: 4:30 p.m.
No. 20 Kansas State vs. No. 5 Auburn:
The potential game of the week is featured on Thursday night so make sure you set your DVR or get home early from work because this could be a great one. When you play the Tigers, you know what you’ll get – a power running game mixed in with some play action and a very solid and stout defense. On the other hand, Kansas State is playing, not just for themselves, but for the Big-12 and a little bit of respect. If the Wildcats and their fast-paced offense can find a way to rouse their speed to neutralize the more physical Tigers, look for Kansas State to deliver in a big way.

SATURDAY
MORNING:
Unfortunately for all college football fanatics, the start of the weekend will have to wait until the afternoon games because with only three top-25 teams scheduled to play, the most exciting thing you could possibly do is sleep in after a long work week. No. 11 Michigan State, No. 13 Georgia and No. 19 Wisconsin are each favored by 20 points or more against their respective FCS opponents but should win by more than that. Your best bet is to sleep in and get ready for the afternoon.

AFTERNOON:
No. 3 Alabama vs. Florida: In a game that has featured national title implication for much of the past decade, the battle between the Crimson Tide and Gators features two teams playing for two very different reasons. The Crimson Tide are looking to avoid the upset and continue on their path to the college football playoff while Florida is just looking to earn some national respect and a win over Alabama in Tuscaloosa could be the perfect thing. In the end though head coach Nick Saban and Alabama cruise to an easy win.

Honorable Mention: No. 21 BYU vs. Virginia

EVENING:
No. 1 Florida State vs. No. 22 Clemson:
If the Seminoles are going to lose a game all year, it’s going to be this one. Typically you would expect Florida to just roll over the Tigers but things got more interesting with Jameis Winston being suspended for the first half of the game. The only way Clemson wins this is if they start out fast and go into the half with a lead because expect Winston to come out ready to play, and get the win, in the second half

Honorable Mention: West Virginia vs. No. 4 Oklahoma
