University names STSS building after former president

The University of Minnesota announced Thursday that it had renamed its Science Teaching and Student Services building Robert H. Bruininks Hall, after the University of Minnesota 15th president.

The Board of Regents approved the building’s name change at its Dec. 12 meeting, according to a University press release.

Bruininks paved the way for the construction of the STSS building, which was completed during his presidency in 2010. He was also a leader in construction the TCF Bank Stadium and buildings in the Biomedical Discovery District, the release said.
