Track and Field: Skipper sets school record at UW Invitational

Greg Skipper broke a school record with a weight throw of 70-10.50 (21.60 m), winning the event on the first day of the UW Invitational on Friday.

Skipper bested Brian Rochotte’s previous school record, a throw of 68-0.25 (20.73m) in 2007. His mark ranks fifth in the NCAA this season.

The meet’s first day saw a mix of men’s heptathlon, women’s pentathlon, field and running events.

Ashlee Moore, competing in the pentathlon, won the long jump portion of the event and set a personal record of 19-4.25 in the 60m hurdle. Hitting a hurdle early in the race disqualified Moore; however, she would finish tenth for the entire event.

Mitch Modin currently sits third in the heptathlon, in front of Oregon’s Alec Fellows (9th) Blake Kemp (10th) and Joe Delgado (12th). Modin recorded a personal record of 7.05 in the 60m hurdles, finishing third. The heptathlon continues tomorrow morning at 9:45 with the 60m hurdles, pole vault and 1000 m.

Brittany Mann finished sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 57-11.75 (17.67m) on her final attempt.
