Student athletes work to balance busy schedule

Wake Forest, a university with about 4,800 undergraduates has roughly 350 student-athletes walking around campus. Although they may seem to have it all, student-athletes have long days with workouts, practice and class, all while trying to stay up to par with Wake’s rigorous academic workload. The Student Athlete Development Mission seeks to develop champions by providing an environment that encourages high academic achievement while maintaining a commitment to winning conference and national championships. Promoting the “total person” experience is harder than the athletic department lets on.
