Their video is titled “Beyond the Cup.”

The message behind the video is one that demonstrates that there is more to Greek Life than the rumors and stereotypes that one can hear people talk about or see in the media.

As president of the Greek Life Panhellenic Council at the University of Hartford, Jayme Delvecchio stated, “We are a community composed of people who excel in athletics, academics and engage in regular community service inside and outside our sororities and fraternities.”

Greek Life is an aspect of American society that is often generalized as large groups of college kids whose only intentions is to haze their new members in humiliating ways and diminish others through various drinking games.

However, “Beyond the Cup” aims to crush those stereotypes and demonstrate the great accomplishments and “secrets” of individual Greek Life members. The “secrets,” as well as the accomplishments seen through the video, were all stated anonymously by the Greek Life members and the video currently has 1,097 views.

This video that can be viewed on YouTube shows some Greek Life members writing down their accomplishments on a red solo cup with a black marker.

Some of the cups read, “I went to the junior olympics for swimming,” “I have three majors, one internship, one job,” “I have directed three operas” and “I wrote and directed musicals for under privileged children.”

This video is meant to show others that Greek Life is more than just partying, drinking and making new friends. Greek Life is all about helping each other achieve.

There are many members of Greek Life on the University of Hartford campus that excel in the classroom. In the video, there are students that are holding cups that say that they have more than one major, internships, 4.0 GPAs, have been on Dean’s List for more than one semester and are honor’s students that takes honor’s classes.
