Berkeley Police investigate armed robbery from Thursday night

Berkeley Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred on Telegraph Avenue Thursday night.

At about 11 p.m., two men engaged in a physical altercation with employees at an Ethiopian restaurant on the 2900 block of Telegraph Ave., according to Berkeley Police Department Lt. Andrew Rateaver. There were no injuries during the incident, Rateaver said.

The suspects used handguns and took money from the cash register, Rateaver said, and fled the scene before BPD arrived shortly after 11 p.m.

According to Rateaver, the suspects are two men who he described as 6-foot-3 or taller wearing dark clothing.

The investigation is ongoing, Rateaver said.
