Quick Hits: Irele Oderinde suspended, 2017 Pac-12 football schedule released

— The University of the Oregon has suspended newly hired football strength and conditioning coach Irele Oderinde for one month without pay after reports surfaced that three Oregon players were hospitalized following “military style” workouts. Previous strength and conditioning coach Jim Radcliffe will assume Oderinde’s duties during his suspension. Oderinde will also now no longer report to head coach Willie Taggart, but to Andrew Murray, the director of performance and sports science. Workouts will also me modified moving forward.

— The Pac-12 released the 2017 football schedule on Wednesday, finalizing Oregon’s full 2017 schedule. Oregon opens conference play at Arizona State on Sept. 23 before hosting Cal at Autzen on Sept. 30. Full schedule can be found here.

— Since the start of his career, Oregon basketball head coach Dana Altman has found success in recruiting junior college players. At Oregon, not much has changed for Altman. The past two seasons he’s recruited the top players in junior college to play for the Ducks. The Emerald’s Kylee O’Connor goes into more detail about his philosophy on junior college transfers.

— Oregon head coach Willie Taggart rounded out his staff on Wednesday with the hiring of former USF assistant coach Raymond Woodie as Oregon’s new special teams coordinator.

— The Oregon men’s golf team is about to kick off the ever-important winter portion of their schedule on Jan. 23 as they look to defend their title as reigning National Champs. The Ducks dropped from 15th to 22nd nationally heading into winter but have plenty of time left until the NCAA Tournament begins in May.
