Missile strikes in Syria kill over a dozen, mostly Iranians

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 26 pro-government fighters in Hama were killed, most of whom were Iranian. It added that the death toll could rise, since 60 others were injured and several are currently missing.

4 climbers die in Swiss Alps after unexpected storm

A total of 14 climbers hiking the Alps were trying to reach the Vignettes hikers’ hut at 3,157 meters (10,357 feet) when they were caught off guard by a bitter snow storm and high winds. They were forced to spend the night outdoors where three hikers suffered from hypothermia and died in the hospital, and another was killed in a fall.

Judge moving along Florida school shooting case

Judge of the Florida school shooting case, Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer, set a hearing on May 25 to gauge progress “so we can move things along and set a proposed trial date.” Cruz’s lawyers have repeatedly claimed Cruz would plead guilty if guaranteed a sentence of life without parole, but prosecutors seek the death penalty.
