Trial set for Texas volleyball player charged with DWI

A jury trial date has been set for Texas volleyball player Micaya White, who was arrested in March 2017 for driving while intoxicated on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

White, a psychology junior, is an outside hitter for the Texas Volleyball team. She also was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team in 2016 and was named 2018 Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year.

White was arrested March 18, 2017, after being pulled over for driving without her headlights on and following too closely behind a vehicle, according to the Austin American-Statesman. According to an arrest affidavit, White admitted to drinking two vodka shots and failed a field sobriety test. After being charged with a DWI, White stayed overnight in jail and was released on $2,500 bail.

White is represented by defense attorney Skip Davis and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 14, 2019.
