Iowa City police responded on Sunday to Town and Campus Apartments, where, reportedly, a drunk male who was denied a hug was punching cars.
Dominique Conway, 23, 1100 Arthur St., was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and simple assault.
When police arrived, Conway approached them and stated that he got mad after someone pushed him after he tried to hug him. Then Conway allegedly punched and dented the hood of a Ford Explorer, causing damages estimated at around $450. Conway also allegedly punched the man he tried to hug, causing pain on the left side of the victim’s face. The victim told police he was going to file charges against Conway.
Fourth-degree criminal mischief is a serious misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of no more than a $1,500.
