NC State football team begins season with open practice

The N.C. State football team began its 2010 campaign Tuesday, holding an open practice for the media.

This season will be the fourth for coach Tom O’Brien and the first for new Athletics Director Debbie Yow.

The open practice also marked the return to the spotlight for redshirt junior quarterback Russell Wilson. Wilson, drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the fourth round of the MLB Draft in June, returns to lead the Pack for the third year.

Wilson has been picked by many to be ACC Player of the Year, but may compete for playing time with redshirt sophomore quarterback Mike Glennon.

Glennon took all the snaps with the first team offense during spring practice while Wilson played baseball, but Glennon is expected to once again take a backseat to the agile Wilson during the season.

The Pack opens the season at home against Western Carolina Sept. 4 at 6 p.m.
