It looks like LSU found an heir apparent to much-maligned former offensive coordinator Gary Crowton.
LSU has hired former Louisville and Tulsa coach Steve Kragthorpe to fill the offensive coordinator vacancy, according to multiple reports. The Times-Picayune first reported the hire.
Kragthorpe was one of many candidates for the vacancy opened when Crowton stepped down and accepted the same position at Maryland.
Kragthorpe coached at Louisville from 2007-09, going 15-21 in three years, as well as Tulsa from 2003-06, where he finished 29-22. After being fired by Louisville in November 2009, Kragthorpe took the wide receivers job at Texas A&M but left the post, citing family health reasons.
In addition to the two head coaching jobs, Kragthorpe also worked two seasons in the NFL from 2001-02 as the Buffalo Bills’ quarterbacks coach.
Multiple calls placed to Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette were not immediately returned.
