Steve Jobs of Apple resigns

By Suzanne Craig

Steve Jobs, co-founder and now former CEO of the computer magnate, resigned today.

In a letter to the board of directors, Jobs recommends that Tim Cook take his place as permanent CEO, while he takes the position of the chairman of the board.

Jobs cites medical concerns, including his recent bout with pancreatic cancer and a liver transplant, as his reason for resigning, saying in his letter that he no longer feels capable of fulfilling the duties of CEO.
