Zone Read PM: Tragedy in Daytona, Ducks to face Stanford once more

Accidents are something that Nascar fans have become accustomed to over the course of their respective sport. With the intense speeds that these skilled drivers endure day-in-and-day-out, accidents have simply been a part of their sport for better or for worse. But today marked one of the worst accidents in Nascar history as 17 fans suffered injuries after driver Kyle Larson’s car went airborne into the stands after a multicar crash at the Daytona International Speedway just moments before the conclusion of the Nationwide Series race.

The last time the Ducks played a struggling Stanford team, they got blown out by 24 points. Life without Dominic Artis has been nothing short of mediocre and the Ducks now boast a disappointing 4-4 record without the freshman leader. But the Ducks will have a shot at revenge tonight as the Cardinals come to town. After falling to California on a last second buzzer beater, the Ducks will be looking to get rid of the terrible taste in their mouths with a much needed conference win.

Well acclaimed track guru, Vin Lananna has never been shy about his aspirations and it has been relevant in his most recent attempt at a crazy idea. Lananna is in full favor of Eugene making a bid for the 2019 IAAF World Outdoor Track & Field Championships and believes that this idea is no more ridiculous than making a bid for the Olympic Trials just weeks after he arrived at Oregon. This would be the first time the event would be held in the U.S. if this bid would fall through and where better to hold the event than in TrackTown U.S.A.
