Part two of this year’s Civil War showdown on the hardwood takes place Thursday night when the men of Oregon take on Oregon State in what, at least on paper, is a bit of a mismatch.

The Ducks sit atop the Pac-12 standings at 11-4, while the Beavers sit in second-to-last at 3-12.

But as the adage goes, ‘Anything can happen in a rivalry game, and the Ducks have needed big second-half performances to get by some of the conference’s lower-half teams this season.

The last time the squads met, green and yellow prevailed 79-66, as the Ducks put together a monster, 51-point second-half to overcome a six-point halftime deficit. The win started a streak of seven straight Pac-12 wins to start the season.

Freshman shooting guard Damyean Dotson has his best scoring outing as a Duck, racking up 21 points.

Guards Ahmad Starks and Roberto Nelson had big games for the Beavers, scoring 22 and 18 respectively.

Oregon will get a boost with the return of freshman point guard Dominic Artis, who is returning after a nine-game injury-induced hiatus. Artis is expected to come off the bench and play limited minutes, rather than resume his starting spot immediately.

While OSU may have a lot of losses, the Beavers have not fallen by more than 10 points in 12 of their 13 losses. The only defeat that was by more than 10 was against Oregon, a 13-point margin.

E.J. Singler, Damyean Dotson, Carlos Emory and Dominic Artis all average more than 10 points per game for UO.

Oregon State has five players that score more than 11 each game in Nelson, Devon Collier, Joe Burton, Angus Brandt and Starks. Nelson is fifth overall in scoring in the Pac-12 with a 17.3 average.

The game is the final home appearance for the Ducks’ this season. Seniors Emory, Arsalan Kazemi, Tony Woods and Singler — who recently set an Oregon record for career wins — will be honored with a senior night ceremony.
