PULLMAN, Wash. — In a battle between one of the Pac-12′s best teams and its unquestioned worst team, it’s the conference cellar-dweller, Washington State, leading UCLA, 35-24, at halftime.

The Cougars opened the half on a 15-2 run, a lead that ballooned to 21 midway through the half. UCLA coach Ben Howland burned three timeouts in the first half to stop the bleeding and, to some degree, it worked. UCLA closed the half on a 20-10 run of its own.

Nonetheless, the Bruins were outrebounded 23-9 in the first half and turned the ball over eight times.

Not one Bruin finished the half with more than 10 points. Freshman guard Jordan Adams leads UCLA with nine while sophomore guard Norman Powell added six.
