Freshman pitcher Jason Richman pitched seven scoreless innings in a 3-0 win over Wofford College, allowing the Georgia Southern University baseball team to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the series.
This is the first shutout for the Eagles since the Southern Conference Championship win over Samford University on May 29, 2011.
Richman was dealing on the mound, as he allowed only three hits while striking out five batters.
Senior pitcher Justin Hess recorded the save in 1.1 innings of work and recorded his first career save.
Junior outfielder Robbie Dodds, who has been stepping up as of late in the absence of sophomore outfielder Hunter Thomas, scored two of the Eagles’ three runs and added two hits.
The Eagles hope to bring out the brooms sweep Wofford after tomorrow’s game beginning at 1:30 p.m at J.I. Clemens Stadium.
