In the third and final round of play, the University of Oregon men’s golf team shot a two-over to finish fourth at the The Bandon Dunes Championship. Despite leading the competition after round one, the Ducks had their best overall performance of the spring slate at this event.
After three days of competition, they recorded a team total of 874 (290-294-290) and finished a mere stroke behind third place Washington (873). Colorado (862) won the event, while Fresno State (867) finished in second. In a pool of 18 teams, the Ducks can be proud of their overall performance as a team and should take this event away as a good experience moving forward.
Leading the way for the Ducks throughout the tournament was Ryann Ree, who shot an even-72 today to finish with a one-over for the tournament. Ree paced the Ducks in the individual standings with an 11th-place finish. Sophomore Jonathan Woo (71-74-73=218) finished in a tie for 17th, while freshman Zach Foushee finished a tie for 24th. Rak Cho (76-72-73=221) carded a one-over 73 today to finish in a tie for 27th.
Troix Tonkham (70-71-69=210) of Fresno State carded a six-under to win the tournament, while his teammate Rufie Fessler (75-69-69=213) finished three strokes back.
On the horizon. The Ducks now take a couple weeks off before resuming play at the Oregon Duck Invitational at the Eugene Country Club on March 25-26.
