Women’s tennis fall to Washington in first match of conference play, men beat Texas A&M Corpus Christi 4-1

The No. 43 Washington Huskies handed the women’s tennis team their first home loss of the season, beating the Ducks 5-2 this afternoon in Eugene.

The Ducks lost to two out of the three doubles matches to the Huskies. Nicole Long and Patricia Skowronski had the only doubles win of the day, winning 8-5.

In singles play, Long continued her winning streak of 16 matches, beating Andjela Nemcevic 6-0, 7-5. The only other singles win for Oregon came from Julia Metzger, who picked up her ninth-straight victory beating Elianne Douglas-Miron (5-7, 6-4, (10-3)).

The 55th ranked Oregon is now 10-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play. The Ducks face Washington State Sunday at 1 p.m.

In men’s play, the No. 33 Oregon defeated the No. 53 Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders 4-1 today in Houston, Texas.

The Ducks won their 14th consecutive doubles point with wins from the duo of Robin Cambier and Jeff Mullen, as well as the team of Aaron Clissold and Daniel Sardu.

Cambier, Alex Rovello, and Daan Maasland all had wins in singles play, sealing the victory for the Ducks.

Oregon will compete against Rice tomorrow at noon.
