As an undergraduate at the University of Oregon, Dotters-Katz ran a successful campaign and was elected ASUO president. As a law student, Dotters-Katz noticed that the ASUO has become a divided area where moves are made because of politics, not on behalf of students.

“When ASUO politicians fight each other instead of the issues facing campus, we fundamentally fail our student body,” Dotters-Katz said. “I am running again because I believe that the ASUO has the ability to make a significant impact on this campus and in each and every students’ college experience.”

Dotters-Katz mentioned both ASUO Sen. Ben Bowman and ASUO President Laura Hinman — two members that ran on opposing slates last year — asked him to consider running again.

“I knew that with their support I would be able to build the bipartisan student government that we all believe is necessary to unite student leaders,” Dotters-Katz said.

As a law student who experienced undergraduate life at the UO, Dotters-Katz feels that his experience allows him to understand the entire collegiate spectrum. His slate covers a wide variety of ages, including both senior and sophomore status vice presidential candidates.

As a graduate student himself, Dotters-Katz believes that he will better represent the graduate population.

“Graduate students are an important and often underrepresented part of the ASUO, and therefore not only will I be an effective advocate for the undergraduate population, I will now have the full perspective of the entire student experience,” Dotters-Katz said.
