Associate justice of the ASUO Constitutional Court, Cedar Cosner, issued a judicial order on Friday, April 12, withholding the results of the ASUO election.
Ducks for a Difference Campaign Manager Andrew Rogers requested that the court rule on the recent grievance filed regarding bribery before the results get announced.
In an email from Chief Justice Nick Schultz, the court will gather at 4:30 p.m. today to decide on Cosner’s stay.
“I think it’s fair that students get a fair elections process that is unadulterated by dirty politics,” Rogers said. ” The gravity of what had been going on seemed to make it necessary.”
The judicial order, authored by Cosner also brought up the severity of the accusations.
“I am issuing this judicial order and staying the release and enforcement of the election results because of the seriousness of Petitioner’s accusations,” Cosner wrote. “There has not been adequate time to review respondent’s brief in a fair and accurate way and if the election results are released, those remedial tools which can be employed by the court become further limited.”
UPDATE:
The ASUO Con Court has issued an injunction, postponing the release of the election results until Monday morning.
