A high-flying, young gun on the field, this week’s Athlete of the Week is freshman Tyler McKelvie.

The goal-poaching attacker for the Keene State College Men’s Lacrosse team put up five goals on six shots, and an assist in KSC’s 16-13 victory over Little East Conference opponent, Salem State.

McKelvie is second on the team in goals scored with 19 and second in points with 31 so far this season.

The victory brought the Owls up to an overall 9-2 record on the season. The Owls also remained undefeated in the conference, now 3-0 in the LEC. The Owls are currently perched at the top of the conference standings.

Leading the Owls into at the UMass-Amherst Invitational meet, the first runner-up this week’s is Ryan Widzgoski.

The meet was largely comprised of Division I athletes as KSC represented one of the few Division III schools present.

With a time of 1:53.33 Widzgoski outpaced the highly competitive field, claiming first place in the 800-meter race.

The second runner-up this week is the KSC Women’s Lacrosse team’s Lauren Brown.

The senior forward was hanging all over the net this past week with nine goals in the team’s past two games. She first posted five goals in the squad’s narrow 13-11 victory over Franklin Pierce.

She followed that up with a four-goal performance in KSC’s 17-5 victory over Rhode Island College.

She also had an assist in the game.

So far the Owls have a 7-5 overall record this season, 2-1 in the LEC and currently sit third in the conference standings.
