University Greeks host run to raise money for Boston bombing victims

In light of the bombings that occurred in Boston Monday, April 15, during the Boston Marathon, the UNC Charlotte Office of Volunteer Outreach and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life will host a run to raise money for those affected by the bombings.

The run will be Sunday, April 21, begininng at 4 p.m. Those participating will begin at the front of the football stadium and follow the two mile route on Toby Creek Greenway.

The UNC Charlotte Interfraternity Council (IFC) will collect monetary donations during the run for the Richard Family Fund.

“The father of the 8-year-old boy who was killed is a brother of Sigma Tau Gamma, which is one of the fraternities we have a chapter of on campus,” said Alex McGrail, vice president for IFC. “We thought it would be a good idea to raise a little money.”

IFC will provide free water to participants.
