The Undergraduate Students Association Council is the official student government of UCLA’s undergraduate students. Council meetings are Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in Kerckhoff 417 and are open to all students.

Agenda

• Weekly contingency allocations were approved.
• The council voted 9-0-1 to allocate $1,518.37 from the USAC discretionary fund to purchase 350 transfer student appreciation t-shirts in response to student demand for them. The discretionary fund currently has more than $9,100, said Cynthia Jasso, USAC Finance Committee chair.
• The council voted unanimously to move $8,000 from the capital contingency fund, which currently has $16,925.24, to the contingency fund for student group programming.
• The council voted unanimously to allocate $1,500 from the USAC discretionary fund to use for a USAC end-of-year banquet in the Pauley Pavilion Club.
• Councilmembers discussed a resolution about ethical investment at UCLA that they tabled indefinitely. They discussed whether it should be broadly worded or focused specifically on certain issues, but did not make any decisions.
• The council unanimously approved a bylaw change that will mandate that USAC appoint two alternate voting members to the University of California Student Association in the event the external vice president is absent.
• Stephen Kraman, facilities commissioner, and Jan Tancinco, campus events commissioner, were absent.

Appointments

• The council voted unanimously to appoint four students to the Office Space Allocation Committee, which formulates policies on student space under USAC’s jurisdiction. Third-year environmental science student Leanna Huynh, third-year political science student Jamie Bundoc, third-year physiological sciences student Mathew Hilton and second-year international development studies student Alex Mercier were approved to the committee.

Officer Reports

• David Bocarsly, USAC president, said his office is co-programming Holi, which will be held this Sunday at the Sunset Canyon Recreation Center. Bocarsly added a USAC end-of-year banquet will be held at the new Pauley Pavilion Club. He said his office is putting on a diversity symposium for seventh week.
• Andrea Hester, internal vice president, said said she is holding an “Intro to USAC” workshop for the next USAC officers on May 21. She said there will be a global advocacy day in Wilson Plaza today. She added her office will hold an off-campus resources fair on May 1.
• Lana Habib El-Farra, external vice president, said her office will have a call-in event Thursday to urge state senators to present a bill on student loan debt similar to HR 1330. She added her office is working on educating students about the mayoral elections this week.
• Sahil Seth, financial supports commissioner, gave an update on his office’s progress this past year.

Special Presentations

• Starting Fall 2013, new undergraduate students will pay a one-time $165 fee for lifetime access to transcripts, said Frank Wada, university registrar. Current students will no longer have to pay the $15-per-transcript fee starting fall quarter, he added. Doctoral students will pay a $100 fee, master’s students will pay $80 and summer-only students will pay $50. Students will also be able to apply financial aid to these fees, Wada said.
