Via the brand new and official Twitter account of Oregon’s football team, the format for Saturday’s spring game will be offense vs. defense. With the Ducks facing numerous injuries, though, a real scrimmage was questionable.

With overall strong hitting and a three-run homer from Tyler Baumgartner, the Ducks beat the Pilots Tuesday afternoon, 11-7.

Oregon used a total of five different pitchers in the nine innings, with Jimmie Sherfy closing in the ninth.

Brett McMurphy of ESPN reports the official name of the four-team, college football playoff will be called … wait for it … the College Football Playoff; it starts at the end of the 2013-14 regular season.

Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, will be the site of the first championship.

In addition, sources have said that the Fiesta, Cotton and Chick-fil-A bowls will join the Rose, Sugar and Orange bowls in the six-bowl semifinal rotation for the new playoff system.
