Hello folks! My name is Isabella Basco (or “Issa”) and I just finished my freshman year here at the Forest. After a wonderful, busy, exhilirating (and somewhat mentally draining) freshman year of college, I am currently spending a summer back in my home of Memphis, TN. Here, I will be working two jobs.

From 9-12, my first job will be at my old high school in Memphis. From Pre-K to 12th grade, I attended a private school called Lausanne Collegiate School. There, I fostered a passion for theatre, debate, and academics that have followed me into my extracurriculars at the Forest. I’ll be working as a personal assistant to one of the administrators.

The second job I am working is an internship at Justine Magazine, which is a national girls’ magazine published in Memphis, TN. I have worked there since my sophomore year of high school and have LOVED the atmosphere. It has been a key influence in my decision to continue pursuing Journalism at Wake Forest. The internship combines my passions for fashion, color, writing and celebrities. Through the internship, I have gotten to make amazing connections including meeting author Meg Cabot and Jennette McCurdy from iCarly.

Now to get to the main point: What exactly will this blog be about? Well, for anyone who is a busy-body or just likes to pile on things for fun like me, I’m hoping this blog will serve as an outlet for you. Whether it’s advice on how to dress for the office, how to manage two jobs, or where to find internships, I hope you can seek these answers from me. Through words, pictures, and just good ole’ creativity,  my biggest hope is that you and I will spend a wonderful summer together learning how to balance all the aspects of a college student’s life: work, friends, maintaining high school relationships, etc.
