Preview: Eugene Emeralds to face Salem-Keizer Volcanoes at home

After grabbing a 3-2 series victory against the Tri-City Dust Devils, the Eugene Emeralds will begin their three game homestand against the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes beginning tonight.

The Emeralds hold a below .500 record at 5-6 entering the series, the Volcanoes enter tonight with a 7-4 record after dropping their series against the Vancouver Canadians. The two teams are currently ranked first (Volcanoes) and second (Emeralds) in the Northwest League heading into the series.

Entering the series, the Volcanoes hold the highest team batting average in the Northwest League at .268 while the Emeralds hold the lowest at .191. The Ems did manage to score 20 total runs in their last five games against the Dust Devils, but will need to maintain their strong pitching and defense if they wish to contain the high-octane Volcanoes offense.

After 11 games, the Emeralds currently rank second in the Northwest League in regards to team ERA  3.06. Not too far behind are the Volcanoes with a fourth best 3.41 ERA.
