TUESDAY, June 25
Lord Huron (Visulite Theatre, $10-12)
Lord Huron’s folk melodies have a dreamlike quality to them, with surrounding sounds and old-fashioned tempos. The Los Angeles band’s latest single, “Time to Run,” picks up the pace a little for a adventure-like feel – as evident in their music video for the song. The rest from their latest album, ”Lonesome Dreams,” is just that – calming and mystifying alternative that can appeal strongly to fans of Vampire Weekend.
WEDNESDAY, June 26
Wild Adriatic (Tommy’s Pub)
Wild Adriatic displays some flawless guitar-driven rock ‘n’ roll with some impressive vocals from their lead Travis Gray. The southern soulful rock will stick with you; it’ll have you dancing one minute and pumping your fists the next. Their latest EP, “Lock & Key,” is a gem.
THURSDAY, June 27
Atlas Road Crew (The Evening Muse, $7)
This group of heavy-influenced old school rockers will make for a Thursday night to remember. Whether it’s through their more bouncy soulful jams like “Movin’ On” and “Morning Eyes,” or through their sooth rock ‘n’ roll hit, “Hot Rod,” these guys now how to make charming rock with a nice southern twang.
FRIDAY, June 28
Raleigh’s own American Aquarium has found a great groove with their latest release, “Burn.Flicker.Die.” Last fall, our own NT writer chose this hard-rock album as one of the best from the underground.
SATURDAY, June 29
The Hot Gates w/ Ancient Cities (Snug Harbor, $5)
And finally, for your Saturday night – Charlotte’s own The Hot Gates has plenty of hot hits. Jason Scavone has a voice reminiscent of Austin Gibbs, with a sound close to the Neon Trees. Catchy songs like “Say Yes” have the quality and vocals to catch a good wave and thrive in the indie pop/rock scene.
