The Oregon basketball team pulled in a crucial recruit for the 2014 season in Casey Benson on Sunday. As the Ducks search for a replacement in the guard position following the eventual departure of now senior guard Jonathan Lloyd, Benson will likely make an immediate impact in 2014 pending his arrival.
Benson hails from Corona Del Sol High School in Tempe, Ariz. and is coming off an impressive junior season where he averaged 20.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists, while also leading his team to a Division I state title. He was also named the Gatorade State Player of the Year after his junior season.
In addition to his dominant play on the hardwood, Benson has also maintained a 3.93 GPA heading into his senior year. According to 247Sports.com, Benson held offers from Creighton, Nebraska, Stanford and Arizona State. Assuming Benson holds true to his word, the Ducks would have a potential backcourt of Dominic Artis, Damyean Dotson, Joseph Young (depending on eligibility) and Benson, which could make some serious noise in the coming years.
