Since the fall of 2011, Craig Pintens has operated as an integral part of the University of Oregon athletic department, but now his talents will be known on a national level.
The National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators announced Monday that Pintens will take over as president for 2013-14. Pintens replaces Greg Herring, who currently serves as the assistant athletic director for marketing at Northern Illinois University.
“It’s always an honor to be respected by your peers,” Pintens said.
Pintens appointment to president has been in the works for a while. In order to be selected as president of the NACMA, Pintens first had to log time on the board of directors. After going through the different levels of the committee, Pintens was a logical choice to take over as the head man.
Before he arrived at Oregon, Pintens worked as assistant athletic director for marketing at Louisiana State University. Athletic director Rob Mullens told the Oregonian upon hiring Pintens that he really fit what the University of Oregon was trying to accomplish.
“Through a nationwide search, Craig was clearly the leader with his talents and vision to enhance the University brand,” Mullens said.
This isn’t the first time Pintens has been involved with the association, he’s been honored with awards twenty-five times for his work in: season ticket campaigns, advertising, ticket sales, new media and video sponsorships.
Pintens wasn’t the only member of the Oregon athletic staff to receive national attention this week. Eric Roedl, Oregon’s executive senior associate athletics director of finance and administration, was named the 2013-14 president of the College Athletic Business Management Association.
“I would be remiss to not thank the CABMA sponsors and partners for their continued support of our Association over the years. Without their support, we wouldn’t be where we are today,” Roedl said. “I look forward to serving as the President during the 2013-14 year.”
Before arriving at Oregon, Roedl was the senior associate athletic director at Temple University.
Both Pintens and Roedl will continue working with the University of Oregon athletic department while working with the NACMA and CABMA respectively.
