WEDNESDAY, July 17

Lee DeWyze  (The Evening Muse, $15-40)

DeWyze’s first album after winning “American Idol” had hit surprisingly low on the charts. – probably due to the beginning of audience disinterest in the series, and DeWyze being the third straight “White Guy with a Guitar” winner of American Idol (at the time). But “Live It Up” was a heartfelt and soulful Midwestern album from DeWyze, and promises to bring that same charm, and his new folky single “Silver Lining,” to the Evening Muse on Wednesday.

THURSDAY, July 18

The Virginmarys w/  American Fangs (The Neighborhood Theatre, $7)

The perfect mix of classic grunge and new age punk rock is the Virginmarys. Their enthusiastic electric guitars and a raspy vocalist makes for some high energy rock ‘n’ roll that will bring down the house at the Neighborhood Theater this Thursday.

FRIDAY, July 19

Hollywood Undead w/ Escape the Fate (The Fillmore, $26)

Get ready to get weird with this one of a kind rock/rap group from California. These masked music vigilantes mix up their hard rock and unforgiving rap lyrics so well to find their own niche in the genre. Their latest release, “Notes from the Underground,” has spawned positive reactions from critics, saying it’s their most finely tuned energy to date.

SATURDAY, July 20

Creative Loafing Arts and Music Festival (NC Music Factory, free)

Alongside the 25 artists displaying and selling their work at the second annual Creative Loafing Arts and Music Festival, local bands will be performing throughout the day to provide some relaxing tunes.
