The UH Athletics Department will host the annual Fan Appreciation Day and Cougar Youth Experience from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday before the season’s first football practice, which is open to the public at 6 p.m.

Players and coaches from the football, soccer and volleyball teams will be available inside the Athletics/Alumni Center during the two-hour time period for autograph signings, photos and to help run CYE where the younger UH fans can participate in individual athletics drills similar to the one’s the players run in practice.

Because of NCAA regulations, CYE is available for only eighth graders and below. Those with children interested in participating in the program should RSVP via email to Tory Teykl at tteykl@central.uh.edu. On-site registration will also be available.

Fans will also be able to meet UH mascot Shasta, take pictures with Andre Ware’s Heisman Trophy and with the Cougar Dolls and UH cheerleaders. The 2013 posters for the three sports programs will be available for fans prior to autograph signings.

Head football coach Tony Levine, head soccer coach Chris Pfau and head volleyball coach Kaddie Platt will address attendees at the free event prior to the crowd being invited to the football practice fields for UH’s first official practice as a member of the American Athletic Conference.

More Legends Classic opponents revealed

The men’s basketball program will play host to a pair of regional round games during the Legends Classic.

First, the Cougars will meet Lehigh on Nov. 17 and then face Howard on Nov. 21 with both games at Hofheinz Pavilion. The times for the games will be announced at a later date.

Earlier this month, officials from the Gazelle Group, the tournament’s host, announced that the Cougars would play Stanford in a semifinal game on Nov. 25 inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. It will be the first time the two programs will meet on the hardwood since the 1991 National Invitation Tournament.

The Cougar-Cardinal game will be the second semifinal contest of the night, while Pittsburgh will face Texas Tech at 6:30 p.m. (CST) in the first game. Both games will be shown live on ESPN2.

From there, the Cougars will play the winner or loser of the Pittsburgh versus Texas Tech game on Nov. 26. The Consolation Game tips at 6 p.m. and will be shown on ESPN3 with the Championship Game following on ESPNU.
