49ers football tickets on StubHub aren’t cheap, but the cost speaks volumes

With the Charlotte 49ers football team being the talk of the Crown Town, many are wondering how they’ll be able to see the men in green play in person on Aug. 31.

Single-game tickets are not currently available through the Charlotte 49ers Athletic Ticket Office. Season tickets are sold out. The only way to guarantee a seat in Jerry Richardson Stadium when the 49ers host the Campbell Camels is to purchase a 49er Seat License (FSL), but there are only a limited number of those pricey seats left.

A quick search on StubHub revealed there are a limited number of single-game tickets for sale. A general admission ticket for the Aug. 31 game is on StubHub for $149.99 plus shipping.

Before they were sold out, the cost of a season ticket for all six home games during the inaugural season was $180.

If a season ticket holder is the one selling his or her ticket to the Campbell game on StubHub for $149.99, it appears he or she will get back almost all of the money spent to buy tickets for an entire season in just a single game. Pretty good deal, and you still have five home games left to attend.

Ticket prices for college football games have been on the rise over the past few years due to big-name players and competitive match ups.

Tickets to see the Alabama Crimson Tide, the reigning national champions in college football, play the Hokies of Virginia Tech inside the famous Georgia Dome (on Aug. 31, the same day the 49ers host the Camels) are still available.

On StubHub, you can purchase an upper sideline ticket starting at as little as $83.95 plus shipping.

If the price difference doesn’t catch your attention, it should.

According to City-Data.com, the distance from UNC Charlotte to the Georgia Dome is 249.68 miles. If you estimate a gallon of regular gas to cost $3.70 and you calculate the trip in a 2006 four-door sedan, the drive one way should cost you $23.29. Round trip would cost roughly $46.58.

Add on the cost of one Alabama-Virginia Tech ticket (before shipping) and your grande total comes to $130.53, or less expensive than a Charlotte-Campbell ticket.

That’s right. You can make the trip to Atlanta to watch the reigning national champions play Virginia Tech in their first game of the season for less money than one individual ticket to watch Charlotte play their first-ever home game against Campbell.

It should be noted that the venues are considerably different in size and how many people they can accommodate.

Jerry Richardson Stadium can hold approximately 15,314 people at capacity. The Georgia Dome can hold approximately 71,228 people during a professional football game at capacity. It can hold 28,115 people during a Georgia State football game at capacity.

The Georgia Dome is home to the Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia State Panthers football team.

Some folks are quick to assume what this inaugural season will be like when the Charlotte 49ers take the field for the first time. Others are upset at the missed chance to see a first-year team play their first-ever game due to tickets being in such high demand.

Although the venue sizes of Jerry Richardson Stadium and the Georgia Dome are really not even comparable, the high-priced Charlotte football tickets speak volumes. People want to watch Charlotte football.

The demand for tickets is there. The football team is there. The fans are there, and they’re ready for Charlotte 49er football – no matter the cost.
