De’Anthony Thomas’ status for this week’s home contest versus Washington State still remains uncertain. The all-purpose running back continues to progress after injuring his ankle against Cal on Sept. 28 and has not played against Oregon’s last two opponents. He took a moment after practice Tuesday to discuss his rehabilitation, the trainers at Oregon and the fact that Marcus Mariota is a leading candidate for this year’s Heisman Trophy award.
On his fitness:
“I feel like when I rest my body I get better. I feel like when I get back I’ll be stronger and faster. My body will never be out of shape.”
Marcus Mariota’s Heisman quest:
“That’s great. I’m glad it is just one of our guys, an Oregon guy. That’s a great feeling and just seeing us going out there and competing is also a great feeling. I just hope we keep striving for those things and stay focused.”
Status for Saturday:
“Not really sure yet, we’ll find out on Friday. I feel better, but that’s all I can say.”
Oregon’s trainers:
“I feel like we have the best support group. They’ve been working a lot with me and I’ve really been taking advantage of it.”
