1. 40 years later, Cal Poly still struggles with diversity

In the 1970s, Cal Poly had the largest population of black students it has ever seen, with a total of 285 students — that’s 2 percent, compared to the less than 1 percent today. This hot-button topic was is a historical problem Cal Poly still faces.

2. Relay for Life turns campus purple

Notice anything new around campus? Well, those  chalk hashtags about beating cancer and purple ribbons spread on trees across campus are actually meant to raise awareness for next month’s Relay for Life event.

3. City council vets call cooperation between Cal Poly and city council

A petition letter signed by 28 past San Luis Obispo City Council members arrived at City Hall on April 16, saying the City Council and Cal Poly need more collaboration on future student housing changes.
