For the fourth time in five years, Oregon was picked to win the Pac-12 championship in a preseason poll of media members who cover the league. Listed in the top spot of the North Division by 37 of the 39 pollsters and to win the Pac-12 title game by 24 voters, the Ducks collected 232 points and are clear favorites heading into the fall among media members alike.
UCLA (231 points) received the second most championship votes with 13 and were the clear favorite in the South Division with 37 of the 39 first-place votes.
The reigning Pac-12 champion Stanford was picked to finish second in the north and collected 192 points. Tallying 181 points, USC was picked to finish second in the South Division, ahead of reigning South Division champ Arizona State, who tallied 163 points and was picked to finish third.
In the last 14 years, the media poll has correctly picked the eventual first-place finisher 11 times, however in the past two year’s, Oregon has failed to meet its preseason expectations according to this poll.
