Portland-based architecture firm SRG will work on the design and vision of Jane Sanders Stadium, athletics director Rob Mullens announced Wednesday through a press release.

SRG has already had some experience working on the Oregon campus. They’ve previously designed UO’s Lillis Business Complex, the Hillsboro Hops’ 4,500-seat Ron Tonkin Field and the University of Washington’s 2,500-seat Husky Ballpark—opened in Spring 2014— among many other major projects completed throughout the 40 years since the company was founded.

SRG’s involvement on campus also includes the Jordan Schnitzer Art Museum addition in 2004 and the Lorry I. Lokey Integrative Science Complex in 2012.

“We are thrilled to add SRG to the Jane Sanders Stadium project,” Mullens said in a press release. “SRG has a bold vision for the softball student-athlete experience and the softball fan experience which matched our lofty goals for a new stadium. We are anxious to begin the process with a group well-known for their creative solutions and innovative thinking. We are confident the long-awaited home for Oregon softball honoring Mrs. Sanders will be the next iconic facility at the UO.”

Jeff Yrazabal—SRG principal and design team leader—said in the release that the firm is striving to make the new stadium reflect the innovative and respectful nature of the program while seamlessly adding to the campus atmosphere.

“SRG is honored to continue our history of collaborating with the University of Oregon,” Yrazabal said in the release. “We are excited by the vision of Rob Mullens, his team and the entire design committee who sees the future Jane Sanders Stadium as an iconic, championship-caliber home for the Ducks.”
