With Associated Students Inc. (ASI) elections coming to a close, results were announced Thursday in the Julian A. McPhee University Union Plaza — agricultural business junior Owen Schwaegerle will be the Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) president for the 2015-16 school year.
“I couldn’t believe it — we won,” Schwaegerle said. “It was amazing. The goal of this election was to run the best possible campaign we could run and to inspire as many people to find their anchors.”
In selecting his executive cabinet for next year, Schwaegerle is looking for committed, proactive individuals eager to serve the students of Cal Poly. He also wants to recruit a member passionate about lobbying for state school funding to secure attending college as an option for students.
He also thanked his Zeta Beta Tau fraternity brothers, family members and girlfriend, biology sophomore Camille Lethcoe.
“She was there every step of the way, motivating me, encouraging me,” Schwaegerle said. “She was helping manage all the people on the campaign team.”
