For the third year in a row, Oregon was crowned as Pac-12 champions as No. 24 Arizona State defeated No. 6 UCLA, securing Oregon’s outright championship.

Even with the championship in hand, the Ducks run-ruled Arizona 15-7 in five innings.

Oregon pitcher Cheridan Hawkins (27-3) struggled, giving up seven runs and five home runs, but the Ducks offense more than made up for it. Oregon had 14 hits, including three home runs on the night.

Nikki Udria was one of five Ducks with at least two hits. She went 3-for-4 in the game. Oregon’s Koral Costa and Gwen Svekis each added a home run and four RBIs while Lauren Lindvall went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, two runs scored and a home run.

The Ducks took advantage of three errors in the first inning, and combined with six hits, were able to take a 7-0 lead. Lindvall launched a 2-1 pitch over the fence for a three-run blast in the inning.

The Ducks added four more runs in the second inning when Svekis hit a grand slam.

After the Wildcats scored three runs over the next two innings to cut the deficit to 11-5, Oregon broke the game open with a four-run fourth inning.

Costa had a three-run home run in the inning and Janie Takeda recorded her 300th career hit by knocking in Lindvall for Oregon’s final run of the game.

The Duck await their postseason fate until tomorrow when the NCAA softball selection takes place at 7 p.m. on ESPNU.
