Police locate missing teenage girl announced as missing Saturday afternoon

Update 5/9/15: This article has been updated to reflect the fact that Lauryn was found safe.

Berkeley police alerted the community about a missing 16-year-old girl who was last seen at University Avenue and California Street on Saturday afternoon.

The girl was located safe as of around 7:30 p.m., according to a Nixle alert.

According to an earlier alert, Lauryn was last seen 2:40 p.m. wearing a black sweatshirt with “Venice” in pink letters, a multicolored shirt, black leggings and brown boots, and she was carrying a brown leather purse. She has black hair and brown eyes.

The Berkeley Police Department requested that those with information call 911 or contact police.
