Anytime: Badlands by Halsey
The much-anticipated debut album from the Internet’s beloved up-and-coming pop princess dropped last week, and it certainly lives up to the hype. Halsey’s gritty, dark electro-pop sounds as if somebody took Ellie Goulding’s instrumentals, layered them under Lana Del Rey’s sultry and risque lyrics, and churned them out through an inverted funhouse mirror version of Taylor Swift’s 1989. Listen to the album and mourn the fact that you hadn’t heard of her sooner — her show Nov. 16 at the Fillmore in San Francisco is already sold out!
