Because she’s a junior college transfer, Trinder has three years to play two seasons at Oregon and will not use any eligibility by sitting out this season.

Trinder is back in her native country, Australia, for a break from school and has had her knee examined by the doctors there. She will return to the United States next week and receive a second opinion from the Oregon staff.

“We’re keeping our fingers crossed,” Graves said. “If the ACL is indeed torn, (redshirting) is the likely scenario.”

Graves said Trinder told him the injury wasn’t the result of any one event.

Graves described Trinder’s play this summer as “better than anticipated or expected.” She landed at Oregon after two years at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska where she ranked third in the nation with 7.3 assists per game.

“We’re really going to miss her this year,” Graves said. “It gives us an extra year to have her in our program. I think it’ll end up being a real positive impact she will have on our program.”
