Oregon women’s basketball’s Jillian Alleyne is on yet another watch-list.
This time it’s for the Naismith Trophy, which is given annually to the top women’s college player of the year. On Tuesday, she was one of 50 student-athletes nationwide to make the list.
Alleyne also appears on the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award short list as the Pac-12’s only representative, and was on the Wooden Award’s preseason radar.
On Monday, she was named Pac-12 player of the week. Her efforts against San Jose State and Utah Valley (24.0 points per game and 19.5. rebounds per game) earned her a spot in the NCAA’s ‘Starting Five,’ which names the top women’s players in the country each week.
Alleyne’s averaging 17.7 ppg, 14 rpg and 3.7 assists through seven games. The Ducks are undefeated thus far and own the program’s best start since 2004-2005.
Oregon returns to action Saturday against Portland with a 2 p.m. start time.
