After pulling an opening weekend sweep over Villanova University, the 9th-ranked Cougar baseball team is preparing to take on McNeese State University on Tuesday.
After starting 3-0, the Cougars found themselves moving up three ranks in the Baseball America Top 25, finding themselves in the ninth spot in the rankings, an improvement from their pre-season placing of 12th.
The Cougars hit a combined average of .306 in the series, hitting five home runs, two triples and five doubles.
Pitching was also strong for UH as the Cougars had a combined ERA of 1.33 for the weekend, racking up 26 strikeouts over the three games.
Now, the Cougars turn their attention to McNeese State, which started the season 2-1 in their opening series.
The Cougars and Cowboys are slated for first pitch at 6:30 p.m. inside Darryl and Lori Schroeder Park on Tuesday.
