The University of Oregon senate will vote on creating a new graduate program on sports product design this Wednesday, according to the UO senate agenda.
The program, if passed, will enhance UO’s relationship with Portland-area sports products companies, including Nike. The proposal, dated back in 2012, includes two sports-centric master degrees, the Register-Guard reported. In November 2014, UO senate approved the other program, Sports Product Management.
Since then, the Lundquist Business school has received $525,000 in donation and secured a university loan of $400,000 to cover startup expenses, according to its website. The university is also “actively preparing to raise” $20 million in endowment to maintain the programs.
If UO senate approve this proposal in Wednesday meeting, UO Provost Scott Coltrane will seek approval from the Board of Trustees at a March 3 and 4 meeting.
