In Sunday’s game, Oregon tried out freshman pitcher Megan Kleist, who recorded five strikeouts for the Ducks over the seven-inning game. Koral Costa backed up the team with offensive power, including three RBIs and two home runs.

It was Gwen Svekis who brought in the first run for the Ducks. Oregon took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second before coming back to score again the fourth.

Costa’s first home run scored two more runs for the Ducks. The homer to left-center put Oregon ahead 3-0 in the fourth inning, and there was more to come.

Jenna Lilley’s hit to right center added two more runs to the Oregon total, giving the Ducks a secure 5-0 advantage by the bottom of the fourth.

The top of the fifth inning was when Kleist tallied her fifth strikeout. In the bottom, Costa brought in another run.

Oregon’s last run of the game came in the sixth inning from freshman April Utchet, who hit a home run to left center. The dinger scored the Ducks their seventh unanswered run.

Next weekend, the Ducks will hit the road again for the Alexis Park Resort Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada. The tournament will be the fourth of five consecutive away tournaments before Oregon starts conference play on March 19 at Washington.
